TB Science 2019 - Abstract submission now open

Abstract submissions for TBScience, the pre-conference to the 50th Union World Conference on Lung Health are now open.

TBScience is entirely devoted to basic and translational TB research. All aspects of TB prevention, diagnosis and treatment research, as well as basic science research, particularly new, innovative and significant findings are welcomed for submission.

Abstract submissions, either oral or poster presentations, should be aligned with one of these four session themes:

  • New diagnostics to reach the missing millions
  • Bacterial evolution
  • New strategies in TB therapeutics: It’s time to break the mould!
  • Prevent infection or prevent disease?

Submissions are open until 22 July 2019.

At a time of information overload when misinformation and disinformation abound, reliable evidence is more important than ever. An evidence-informed approach to healthcare is about making personal and professional decisions focused on the effective use of scarce resources, avoiding harm and maximising good.

The Cochrane SA Virtual National Symposium will explore the state of evidence in the post-truth/COVID-19 world - from primary research, clinical trial transparency, systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, guidelines development and policy implementation, all the way to public understanding of scientific evidence and individual decision-making.

This online event is for researchers, policymakers/ decision-makers, media, health science students, and community representatives in South Africa. Registration is free.

MRC Clinical Trials Unit LMIC bursaries for online MSc courses | Deadline: 17 April 2023

The MRC Clinical Trials Unit (MRC CTU) offers an online MSc course in Clinical Trials and an online MSc course in Statistics for Clinical Trials. The online MSc in Clinical Trials provides an excellent grounding in the management and design of clinical trials, and will enhance the knowledge and understanding of those already working in the field. The online MSc in Statistics for Clinical trials will develop your knowledge and know-how of statistics in clinical trials. This training is relevant for future clinical trial statisticians, and as well as clinicians and other health professionals who have a strong quantitative interest in trials.

The MRC CTU has announced an education bursary to support colleagues in low and middle-income countries (LMIC) available through the MRC Clinical Trials Unit (MRC CTU) for study at UCL. The deadline for application is 17 April 2023.
