Project Objectives

Women who initiate ART and disengage from care are at risk of transmitting the HIV virus to their infant pre and post-delivery. The aim of this project is to trace disengaged HIV positive pregnant women, link them back to care and in addition, use these findings to correct the reported estimates of Mother to Child Transmission, for Lost to follow-up.

Project Summary

The project is aimed at community tracing of HIV positive pregnant women who disengage from HIV care and treatment. The results will be used to correct for estimates of mother to child transmission of HIV for loss-to-follow-up using statistical methods. The study is carried out in urban and peri-urban communities of Uganda.
